Definition
A promoter sequence is a region of DNA that initiates transcription of a particular gene. It is located near the start of the gene and binds RNA polymerase and other proteins to begin synthesis of RNA from DNA.
An enzyme that synthesizes RNA from a DNA template, moving along the DNA strand and unwinding it to read off the genetic code.
Gene Expression: The process by which information from a gene is used in the synthesis of a functional gene product, such as proteins, typically through processes including transcription and translation
