A Lindlar catalyst is a specially prepared palladium on calcium carbonate (Pd/CaCO3) that is poisoned with lead acetate and quinoline. It is used in organic chemistry to selectively hydrogenate alkynes to cis-alkenes, without reducing them further to alkanes.
