Definition

Electron-dot structures, also known as Lewis dot structures, are diagrams that represent the valence electrons of atoms within a molecule as dots around the symbols of the elements. They illustrate how electrons are distributed in molecules and indicate the type of bonds (single, double, or triple) between atoms.
