Social disorganization theory

Definition

Social disorganization theory suggests that high crime rates are primarily due to the breakdown of social institutions, such as family, school, and community organizations, within a neighborhood. It posits that when these social structures fail to provide stability and support, deviant behavior and crime flourish.
