Definition
The sex ratio is the proportion of males to females in a given population. It is commonly expressed as the number of males per 100 females.
Analogy
Think of a party where invitations are sent to both boys and girls; the sex ratio would be like counting how many boys show up compared to girls. If you have 105 boys for every 100 girls at the party, that mirrors the global average sex ratio at birth.
