A constitutional monarchy is a form of government where a monarch acts as the head of state within the parameters of a constitution. This system combines elements of democracy with a ceremonial monarchy, where the monarch's powers are limited by law or political convention.
Think of a constitutional monarchy as a game where the monarch is a player who must follow the same rulebook (the constitution) that everyone else does, but they get to wear a special jersey (symbolizing their ceremonial role). They're part of the team but don't make all the calls.
Monarch: A king, queen, or emperor who is the hereditary head of state, often ruling for life.
Democracy: A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.
