Deganawida is a significant historical figure and the co-founder of the Iroquois Confederacy, also known as the Haudenosaunee. He is credited with uniting the five original nations—the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Seneca—under a single political structure to promote peace, cooperation, and collective governance. His teachings emphasized the importance of unity and peace among tribes, setting the foundation for the democratic principles that would influence later political systems.
