Power Dynamics

Definition

Power dynamics refers to the way in which power is distributed and negotiated in relationships, groups, or social structures. In the context of US history, it often relates to how different groups have held and exercised power over time.

Analogy

Think of power dynamics like a game of tug-of-war. The rope represents power, and the teams on either end represent different groups within society (like political parties, races, genders etc.). The struggle for control over the rope symbolizes the ongoing negotiation and conflict inherent in power dynamics.
