Political Nominating Conventions are large meetings held by political parties to choose their candidate for a forthcoming election. They also establish party platforms outlining their goals and principles.
Think of these conventions as a big school assembly where everyone decides who will run for student council president and what they'll promise to do if elected.
Primary Elections: These are preliminary elections where voters decide which candidates will represent their party in the main election.
Party Platform: This is a formal set of principal goals which are supported by a political party or individual candidate, in order to appeal to the general public.
Superdelegate: A delegate to the Democratic National Convention who is seated automatically and chooses for themselves whom they want to vote for.
