National War Labor Board

Definition

The National War Labor Board was established during WWI with responsibility for settling labor disputes that might hinder war efforts.

Analogy

Consider this board as a referee in a football game between employers and employees. Its job is ensuring fair play so that no disruptions occur that could affect the overall game – or in this case, the war effort.
