The Geneva Conference was a conference among several nations that took place in Geneva, Switzerland from April 26 – July 20, 1954. It was intended to settle outstanding issues resulting from the Korean War and the First Indochina War. Vietnam was temporarily divided at the 17th parallel as a result.
Think of the Geneva Conference like a big family meeting where everyone comes together to resolve disputes and make important decisions about how things will operate moving forward.
