Colonization

Definition

Colonization is the act of establishing control over indigenous people in an area. The colonizing country generally transfers portions of its own population into the new territory.

Analogy

Imagine if someone walked into your room, declared it was now theirs, moved their stuff in and made you live by their rules. That's what colonization is like on a much larger scale.
