Definition

An observed frequency distribution represents the actual count or frequency of occurrences for each category or value in a dataset.

Related terms

Expected frequency distribution: The theoretical or predicted frequency distribution that is expected under the null hypothesis.

Chi-square statistic: A measure used to quantify the difference between the observed and expected frequencies in a chi-square goodness of fit test.

P-value: The probability of obtaining results as extreme as those observed, assuming the null hypothesis is true.
