Definition

Controlled variables, also called constant variables, refer to factors in an experiment that remain consistent throughout all conditions. By keeping these factors unchanged, researchers can isolate the effects of the independent variable on the dependent variable.

Analogy

Think of controlled variables as "referees" in a game. Just like referees ensure that all players follow the same rules and conditions, controlled variables ensure that all aspects of an experiment remain constant, allowing for accurate comparisons.
