Chicago Style

Definition

Chicago Style is a citation style widely used in history, literature, and some social sciences. It offers two different documentation systems - notes-bibliography system (footnotes or endnotes) and author-date system (in-text citations).

Analogy

Imagine Chicago Style as having two different routes to reach your destination. You can either take footnotes or endnotes route with lots of stops along the way, or you can choose an efficient author-date route with fewer stops but more direct connections to your sources.
