Teratogens

Definition

Teratogens are substances or environmental factors that can cause developmental malformations in a fetus when the mother is exposed during pregnancy.

Analogy

Think of teratogens like harmful software viruses. Just as these viruses can corrupt files on your computer, teratogens can disrupt the normal development of a fetus, leading to physical and mental abnormalities.
