Definition

This refers to the tendency for individuals to perform worse or become less likely to act out in front of others compared to when they are alone.

Analogy

Picture yourself singing karaoke. Alone in your room, you belt out tunes fearlessly. But put you on stage in front of an audience and suddenly those high notes seem impossible – this is social inhibition!
