Psychophysiological Illnesses

Definition

Psychophysiological illnesses are physical diseases that are either brought about or worsened by mental factors such as stress or anxiety.

Analogy

Think of psychophysiological illnesses like a car engine overheating because you're constantly revving it too hard (stress). The engine (your body) can handle some revving but if you don't give it time to cool down or maintain it properly (manage stress), eventually parts start breaking down leading to illness.
