Problem solving is a cognitive process that involves identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems. It's the mental process we use to find solutions to challenges or obstacles.
Think of problem-solving like being a detective. You're presented with a mystery (the problem), you gather clues (information), analyze those clues (think critically), and then come up with a solution (solve the mystery).
Critical Thinking: This is the ability to think clearly and rationally, understanding the logical connection between ideas.
Decision Making: The cognitive process resulting in the selection of a belief or course of action among several possible alternatives.
Cognitive Psychology: The scientific study of mind and mental function, including learning, memory, attention, perception, reasoning, language, conceptual development, and decision making.
