These are different approaches to raising children that are typically categorized into four main types: authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and neglectful.

Think of parenting styles like the settings on a thermostat. Some settings (styles) create a warm and comfortable environment for growth while others might be too hot (strict) or too cold (neglectful).
