Definition

Modern psychology is a broad field that includes various sub-disciplines such as clinical psychology, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology etc. It uses scientific methods to study and understand human mind and behavior.

Analogy

Think of modern psychology like a toolbox. Just as a toolbox has different tools for different tasks (hammer for nails, screwdriver for screws), modern psychology has different sub-disciplines each with its own focus area.
