Measures of central tendency are statistical indicators that identify the center, or average, of a data set. These measures include mean, median, and mode.
Think of measures of central tendency as the GPS coordinates for a group's favorite hangout spot. It gives you an idea where most people in the group prefer to spend their time.
Mean: The mean is simply the sum of all values in a dataset divided by the total number of values. It's often referred to as the "average."
Median: The middle score in a distribution; half the scores are above it and half are below it.
Mode: The most frequently occurring score(s) in a distribution.
