Howard Gardner

Definition

Howard Gardner is an American developmental psychologist best known for his theory of multiple intelligences. He proposed that people have different types of intelligences rather than one general intelligence.

Analogy

Imagine if intelligence was a toolbox. Most people think there's only one tool (like a hammer) representing traditional IQ tests measuring linguistic and logical-mathematical abilities. But according to Gardner, this toolbox has many tools - musical-rhythmic, visual-spatial, verbal-linguistic etc., each representing different kinds of intelligence we possess.
