Frequency Theory

from class:

AP Psychology

Definition

Frequency theory is a theory of pitch perception that states that the pitch we hear is determined by the frequency of sound waves, with higher frequencies resulting in higher pitches. It suggests that our perception of pitch is based on how fast or slow the neurons in our auditory system fire in response to sound waves.
