Excitatory Neurotransmission

Definition

Excitatory neurotransmission is the process by which a neurotransmitter released from a presynaptic neuron binds to receptors on the postsynaptic neuron, resulting in depolarization of the postsynaptic membrane and an increased likelihood of an action potential being generated.
