Addiction

Definition

Addiction is a chronic, relapsing disorder characterized by compulsive drug seeking, continued use despite harmful consequences, and long-lasting changes in the brain.

Analogy

Addiction is like being stuck on a roller coaster ride that you can't get off of. Even though it's making you sick and scared, you feel compelled to stay on because getting off seems even more terrifying.
