Ganglion Cells

Definition

Ganglion cells are specialized neurons located in the retina at the back of the eye. They receive signals from bipolar cells and transmit them through their axons, forming the optic nerve which carries visual information to the brain.

Optic Nerve:

A bundle of ganglion cell axons that carries visual information from each eye to specific areas in the brain for processing.

The layer at the back part of our eye containing photoreceptors (rods and cones) along with other neurons including ganglion cells.
