Definition

Area charge density refers to the amount of electric charge per unit area. It is a measure of how much charge is distributed over a given surface.

Analogy

Imagine you have a pizza and you want to know how many pepperoni slices are on each square inch. The area charge density would be like counting the number of pepperoni slices and dividing it by the total area of the pizza.
