Definition

The centripetal force is the force that keeps an object moving in a circular path. It always acts towards the center of the circle.

Analogy

Imagine swinging a yo-yo around in a circle. The string attached to your finger provides the centripetal force, keeping the yo-yo moving in its circular path.
