Angular Tension

Definition

Angular tension refers to the force exerted by a string or rope when it is being pulled in a circular path.

Analogy

Think about swinging a yo-yo around in circles. As you pull on the string, there is tension in the string that keeps the yo-yo moving in its circular path. This tension is what we call angular tension.

Related terms

Centripetal Force: The inward force acting on an object moving in a circular path.

Centrifugal Force: The apparent outward force experienced by an object moving in a curved path.
