Kirchhoff’s loop rule

Definition

Kirchhoff’s loop rule, also known as Kirchhoff's voltage law (KVL), states that the sum of the potential differences around any closed loop in an electrical circuit is equal to zero. In other words, the total voltage gained is equal to the total voltage dropped.
