Major second

Definition

A major second is the distance of two whole steps or two half steps between two pitches.

Think of a major second as taking a step up or down on a staircase. If you take two whole steps or two half steps, you will end up on the next pitch.

Minor second: A minor second is the distance of one half step between two pitches.

Interval: An interval refers to the distance between two pitches.

Melody: Melody is a sequence of single notes that create a musical line or tune.
