Alto is the second highest voice part in choral music. It usually sings harmonies above or below the sopranos.
Picture an alto as a reliable supporting actor in a movie. They may not have all the spotlight moments, but their presence enhances every scene they're in.
Soprano: The higher voice part above alto that often carries melodies.
Tenor: The male equivalent of an alto, singing above baritones and basses.
Contralto: The lowest female voice type, often possessing a rich and dark timbre.
