Definition
A metaphor is a figure of speech that compares two unrelated things by stating that one thing is another thing. It creates vivid imagery by suggesting similarities between two concepts or objects.
A simile is also a figure of speech that compares two unlike things using 'like' or 'as.' Unlike metaphors which state one thing is another thing directly, similes make comparisons more explicitly.
Extended Metaphor: An extended metaphor is when a metaphor is developed throughout an entire passage or poem rather than just being used once. It allows for deeper exploration and elaboration on the comparison.
Personification: Personification gives human qualities or characteristics to non-human entities or abstract concepts. It helps create a more relatable and vivid image by attributing human traits to inanimate objects or ideas.
