足利義政 (あしかが よしまさ) was the 8th shōgun of the Ashikaga shogunate in Japan, ruling from 1449 to 1473. He is often remembered for his patronage of the arts and culture, particularly during a time known as the Muromachi period, which saw the flourishing of Japanese aesthetics. His reign was marked by significant political strife and civil unrest, leading to the onset of the Onin War, a major conflict that shaped the future of Japan.
