Title IX is a federal civil rights law passed as part of the Education Amendments of 1972. It prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or other education program that receives federal money.
Imagine if you were at a birthday party and only boys were given cake, while girls were not. Title IX would be like a rule saying that everyone at the party gets to have cake, regardless of their gender.
