Definition

The Progressive Era was a period of widespread social activism and political reform across the United States that spanned from 1890s to 1920s. Key issues during this time included addressing corruption in government, women's suffrage (right to vote), labor rights etc.

Analogy

Consider Progressive Era as your school's student council election season - there's lots of campaigning for change happening around you. Just like candidates promising better cafeteria food or longer recess times; activists during this era were fighting for major societal changes too!
