Definition

The Vice-President is an official who holds second-highest position in a country's executive branch. They usually serve as deputy to the President and may assume presidential duties if needed.

Analogy

Think of the Vice-President as the backup quarterback on a football team. While they may not be on field all the time, they are ready to step in if something happens to the starting quarterback. Similarly, Vice-Presidents are prepared to take over presidential responsibilities if necessary.
