Weak Electrolytes

Definition

Weak electrolytes are substances that only partially ionize in solution, meaning they form a mixture of ions and un-ionized molecules when dissolved in water.

Analogy

Think of weak electrolytes like a bag of mixed candies. When you open the bag (dissolve the substance), not all candies will be your favorite kind (ions). Some will be other types (un-ionized molecules).
