Basicity

Definition

Basicity refers to how much base is present in a substance, or its ability to accept protons (H+ ions).

Analogy

Think of basicity like being a collector. The more you're able to collect and hold onto (accept) H+ ions, the more successful (basic) your collection becomes!

Related terms
