Definition

Divisions or segments within the domain that are used to analyze different parts of a function separately.

Analogy

Imagine you are baking a cake and want to test its doneness. Instead of checking the whole cake at once, you divide it into smaller sections (intervals) and check each section individually to ensure it is properly baked.

Related terms

Endpoint: The beginning or end point of an interval.

Closed Interval: An interval that includes both its endpoints.

Open Interval: An interval that does not include either endpoint.
