Definition

Cross sections refer to the 2D shapes that are obtained when a solid is cut by a plane. They help us understand the shape and properties of the solid.

Analogy

Imagine slicing through a loaf of bread with a knife. Each slice you make represents a cross section of the loaf, showing you what the inside looks like.
