Definition

Change of variables refers to substituting one variable with another variable or expression in order to simplify an integral or equation.

Analogy

Imagine you have a recipe for cookies, but you want to make twice as many. Instead of doubling all the ingredients individually, you can change the variable "number of cookies" from N to 2N, making it easier to adjust the recipe.
