Definition
The vertebral arch is a structure in the vertebral column that forms the canal through which the spinal cord passes. It is composed of two pedicles and two laminae that arc around the back of the vertebral body.
The spinal cord is a long, thin, tubular structure made up of nervous tissue that extends from the medulla oblongata in the brainstem to the lumbar region of the vertebral column.
Vertebral Body: The vertebral body is the thick oval segment of bone forming the front of the vertebra also serving as a major weight-supporting structure of a vertebra.
Laminae: Laminae are paired flat plates arising from either side of the vertebral arch, joining in the midline to complete the roof of the spinal canal
