Definition

The trapezius is a large triangular muscle that extends over the back of the neck and shoulders, and is involved in moving, rotating, and stabilizing the scapula (shoulder blade) and extending the neck. It is one of the major muscles of the pectoral girdle and upper limbs, facilitating movement and support for arm and shoulder activities.
