Definition
The transverse foramen is a small opening or hole found in each of the transverse processes of the cervical vertebrae. It allows for the passage of the vertebral artery, vein, and nerve fibers through the cervical vertebrae.
The uppermost seven bones of the vertebral column, located in the neck, that support the skull and enable a range of head movements.
Vertebral Artery: A major artery that ascends through the transverse foramina of the cervical vertebrae to supply blood to the brain.
Transverse Process: A lateral bony projection off the right and left side of each vertebra, which serves as an attachment point for muscles and ligaments
