Definition

The pisiform is a small, pea-shaped carpal bone located in the proximal row of the carpus, on the ulnar side of the hand. It articulates only with the triquetrum and acts as a sesamoid bone, embedded within the tendon of the flexor carpi ulnaris muscle.
