Peritoneum

Definition

The peritoneum is a large, thin layer of serous membrane that lines the abdominal cavity and covers the organs within it, providing support and serving as a conduit for blood vessels and nerves. It helps in protecting the abdominal organs and facilitates their movement within the abdomen.
