Pattern Recognition Receptors (PRRs) are proteins on the surface of cells of the innate immune system, designed to recognize molecules typically found on pathogens, known as pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs). Once these PRRs bind to their target PAMPs, they initiate an immune response aimed at neutralizing the threat.
