Parietal cells

Definition

Parietal cells are specialized epithelial cells located in the lining of the stomach that secrete hydrochloric acid (HCl) and intrinsic factor. Their primary role is to aid in digestion by creating an acidic environment and facilitating vitamin B12 absorption.
